Author’s Note
Throughout the course of Society and Culture (at least, at its preliminary stages), it holds significant importance to understanding the course. Many questions will inquire the student to relate answers to socialisation.
A lifelong process, where as a result of an individuals interaction with primary1 and secondary2 agents, they can learn to be functioning members of society. This is through the internalisation of roles, values, and norms of one’s society. Through this, they are able to learn how to perform social roles.
Socialisation, as a process, refers to the learning of how to deal with the social world, through the gaining of knowledge and understanding the rules and expectations for situations that occur between individuals in society.
